My Profile

I joined Baird in 2001 as a Financial Advisor in the Davenport office with over 25 years of experience in the investment business. In December 2005 I was the first Quadcitian and third Iowan to receive the Certified Retirement Counselor® designation from the International Foundation for Retirement Education ( InFRE ). EF Hutton started me as an investment broker in 1983. Prior to that I was a real estate broker for 10 years including serving as secretary treasurer for the Scott County Board of Realtors.

Since 1983 my specialty has been helping clients construct portfolios that accomplish their retirement and income goals.  I say, “My investment philosophy is to evaluate each client’s investment needs and create an asset allocation model that reflects their individual time horizon, risk profile and return expectations.  Then I follow up regularly to monitor the performance.”  I've concluded that no one investment has all features that investors desire. Well diversified portfolios have given my clients the assett allocation and proper balance between risk and return they prefer.

Building portfolios that are in line with my clients’ investment objectives is what my clients really enjoy about me. “The key is to help clients understand how carefully selected individual investments help them achieve their financial goals.”

The following is a partial list of my current and past volunteer projects:

  • The economic development committee for the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce
  • An elder at Trinity Lutheran Church
  • A director for Iowa Dollars For Scholars based out of Des Moines, Iowa
  • President of the Optimist Club
  • Bible study leader,  Sunday school teacher and choir member
  • Children and adult fishing seminars
  • North Scott Student Built Home Project Director
  • Freelance writer for the Quad Citiy Times newspaper
  • 2003 "Volunteer of the Year" for the Bettendorf Chamber of commerce
  • 2006 - 2007 Chairman of Trinity Lutheran Church Sanctuary Renovation Committee
  • Donate guided trout fishing trips for auction to benefit local charities.

My hobbies include biking, kayaking, hunting, fishing, conducting youth fishing seminars, 1960's muscle car restoration, and reading the Bible and other books by Christian authors. My wife, Carol, and I have seven children, and ten grandchildren. We live in Bettendorf  and both grew up in the Quad Cities.
