Upon earning his degree in Aerospace Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, John planned life as a career Naval Aviator. He is no longer landing aircraft on aircraft carriers, but applies the thoroughness, attention to detail, and focus that marked his military career to his role as a Baird Advisor. In 1996, John and Frances Bobbie saw that clients would benefit from their partnership. John’s analytical skills and Frances’s communications skills combine to create extra value for clients. Their combined 58 years as investment advisors, and 20 years of working together bring extraordinary depth to the client’s experience with our firm. In 2013, John earned the certification of Certified Investment Management Analyst®. He added the title, Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) in 2014.

Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®) is the owner of the certification marks “CIMA®”, CPWA®, “Certified Investment Management Analyst®” and “Certified Private Wealth Advisor®”. Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Frances left North Carolina to seek her fortune. In New York City, she worked briefly for financial legend Julian Robertson in the early days of his hedge fund, Tiger Management. Learning that the investment business fascinated her, she joined Morgan Stanley in 1981. Her return to North Carolina led to a 26 year career with the firm that is now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, 16 of those years in partnership with John Allman.

Having the desire to give back to her community, Frances currently serves as President-Elect of the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh.  Her past service includes the Board of Directors of Learning Together, Inc., Leaders United of the United Way of the Greater Triangle, Board membership at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, and as a founding member of The Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum.  She has enjoyed her roles in fundraising for various non-profit agencies and her children’s schools over the past 30 years

After graduating from Sewanee: The University of the South with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Emily moved to Washington, DC where she worked in the House of Representatives as an Executive Assistant. With a desire to pursue a career in finance, Emily joined Baird in January 2015.

Outside of work, Emily currently serves on the Board of the NC Triangle Chapter of Ellevate, and she is actively involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County.   She volunteers as an Alumni Arcadian for Sewanee where she assists the admissions office with local college fairs and admitted students.  In her free time, she enjoys tennis, golf and skiing.

Judie Meriweather

Judie Meriweather began her career in the financial services industry with The Robinson-Humphrey Company in 1985.  She worked at the firm for 25 years as it went through a series of mergers and acquisition which resulted in the creation of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  She joined Baird in May, 2010 to help open our Raleigh, NC office.  She is looking forward to utilizing her 25 years of experience working with the other members of the management team to build a strong presence in Raleigh.  Her industry licenses include the Series 7, 9, 10, 31, 63 and 66.  Judie was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan.  She has lived in Ohio and Illinois prior to moving to Raleigh in 1982.  She enjoys golf, tennis and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jolene Miles

Senior Client Specialist

Jolene started her career in the financial services industry with The Robinson-Humphrey Company in February 1986.  Over the course of her 24 years with that firm it underwent a series of changes that resulted in the creation of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  In May, 2010, she joined Baird to help grow the Raleigh Office.   Jolene has obtained the Series 7, 63, 65, 66, 8, & 31 industry licenses.  She supports the Branch Manager and Financial Advisors and staff by understanding the nature of our business, the products and services that we offer and providing operational support and training.  She is involved in overseeing cashiering and order flow, new account processing and ensuring that we’re following firm and regulatory policies.   Jolene and her husband, Mike, moved to Cary, NC in 1985 from Indiana.  They have two children, Jordi and Karli.
