Michael Bishop, CFP®

Director

Mike has worked at Baird for nearly 30 years. His areas of specialty include investment consultation and advice with an emphasis on financial planning and comprehensive wealth management. His number one priority is to develop quality, long-term, and informative relationships with both individuals and businesses, while helping them achieve their financial goals. In regards to his approach to investing, Mike says, "My investment philosophy is to work in partnership with my clients in order to establish a long-term, disciplined investment policy that balances risk and return through a combination of income and growth investments."

Mike earned his BS in Business from the University of Wisconsin Parkside and is a lifelong resident of Racine. He is active in his community as a board member of the Kiwanis Club of Racine and also sits on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Leadership Board. An avid sport enthusiast, his favorite leisure time activities are tennis and fishing. If Mike looks familiar, it may be that you have seen him around Racine at one of his gigs disguised as Elvis.

Christopher Leberfing, CPWA®

Trust is the key element in any successful advisor/client relationship. "That is why it is of utmost importance that I earn my clients' trust," says Chris when asked to describe his professional approach as he works with individuals and organizations to pursue their financial goals. Chris maintains that communication is vital when working with his clients. Educating, listening, and addressing concerns are keys to building a long-term relationship.

Prior to joining Baird in 2001, Chris worked for nearly 12 years in various positions in the accounting field; including an Internal Auditor, Financial Analyst, and Accounting Manager. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his BBA in Accounting. Chris is a current board member of the Racine YMCA and of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. He is also a committee member for the United Way of Racine. Chris is an avid tennis player and he and his wife, Krista, have lived in the Racine community for over 20 years.

Ben Klenke, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Ben has more than 7 years of experience in the investment and financial planning industry. Ben relocated with his family in 2014 to the Milwaukee area to pursue a career in the financial industry by joining Baird. His initial role was in Operations, supporting Baird’s Private Wealth Management business. He was promoted to a Product Support Senior Analyst prior to joining Private Wealth Management in 2017. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, who focuses on helping individuals and families create comprehensive strategies to wealth management.

Prior to Baird, Ben served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a K9 Deputy Sheriff in Northern Wisconsin. He received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Ben and his wife Anne have been married for 6 years, and have four children.

Kay Shalbrack

Assistant Vice President
Senior Client Specialist

In 1993, Kay joined Baird as a Registered Sales Associate and has worked for over 40 years in the investment and banking industries. In addition, she has extensive experience with estates and annuity products and holds a Wisconsin Insurance license and Series 7 and 63 securities licenses. Kay values the many client relationships she has made and states, “I adhere to the Baird Doctrine integrity is irreplaceable and plays a large part in helping achieve client satisfaction. Also, I believe in the Baird credo clients come first and quality of service is my measure of success.”

Kay attended St. Catherine’s High School and the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. To give back to the community, she spends time volunteering for various charitable and non-profit organizations, and currently serves on the St. Joseph Parish Finance Council. A lifelong Racine resident, Kay enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing in choir and as a church cantor, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Tara Pankow

Senior Client Specialist

Tara joined The Bishop Leberfing Group in April of 2013 and currently holds both a Series 7 and 66 license. In June of 2016, she received her Accident, Health & Life Insurance licenses. She previously worked as an assistant to the Private Wealth Management team at Johnson Bank. Her work history also includes event/meeting coordination.

Tara graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine and went on to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater to earn a dual BBA in Accounting and Marketing with a minor in Legal Studies. She and her husband are high school sweethearts and have two boys, Dominic and Lincoln.
