Curt Brewer, JD, CFP®
Curt has been advising high net worth individuals for more than 20 years at Baird. His background as an estate planning attorney positions him to work closely with his team’s clients and their advisors to develop tax and other efficient solutions to manage and ultimately distribute their wealth. His client-centric approach to customized financial planning has earned him recognition as a Five Star Wealth Manager.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, a law degree from Marquette University and an MBA from Marquette. In addition, he holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and is a Member of the Wisconsin State Bar Association.
In his spare time, Curt is active in the community as well as in his children’s activities. He currently serves on the St. Matthew’s Church Council and also on the Board of the Waukesha County Community Foundation. In previous years he has served as president of the Marquette University Business Admin Alumni Association and the St. Matthew’s Church Foundation. During the spring and summer months he can be found on the baseball diamond helping coach his son’s little league team. Curt and his wife, Carri, live in Wauwatosa with their two children, Ella and Isaac.
Rick Verthein, CFP®, CPWA®
Rick has been working with affluent individuals since 2006. His focus has been on developing the investment strategies and financial plans that give clients the flexibility to focus on the important aspects of their life. His experience in both accounting and finance allows him to understand how your investments, tax situation and cash flow strategies are intertwined.
He graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007. During school, he joined Baird in 2006 in the Finance Department as an intern and subsequently transitioned to Waukesha Private Wealth Management upon graduation. He completed the Certificate Program of Financial Planning at DePaul University and has obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. He was also named to FORBES 2017 Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisor; one of nine Advisors in the state of Wisconsin to make the list.
Outside of work, Rick serves on the Advisory Board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Milwaukee Chapter as well as various committees. He also volunteers with the Adaptive Community Approach Program in Waukesha and is an active member of the Waukesha Rotary Club. In the past, Rick has served on the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi and was former Chair of Bair’s Registered Assistant Advisory Council. Rick and his wife Jessica live in Nashotah with their two sons, Charlie and Henry, along with their two dogs, Trinity and Dexter. When there is spare time, he enjoys his free-time by playing golf, exercising and traveling as much as possible.
Ashley M. Brown, CFP
Associate Financial Advisor
Ashley joined Baird in 2008 and is pleased to be part of a team that utilizes goals-based financial planning as the cornerstone of their practice. Her focus is on the increasingly complex financial needs of our clients and their families as well as assisting in the development of investment strategies and oversight. Additionally, she has extensive experience with corporate and executive stock option.
Ashley graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007. She also completed her Certificate Program of Financial Planning at Boston University and has obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification.
Outside of Baird, Ashley serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors at LiFE OF HOPE. She is also highly involved with her children’s school including a leadership role with Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast and support of the Hartford Select Baseball Club. Ashley and her husband reside in Washington County with their children, Isabel, Logan and Sophia and Golden Retriever, Lucy.
Senior Client Specialist
Jennifer is a Senior Client Specialist at Baird, holding both FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses. She joined Baird in 2003 in Mutual Fund Operations and transitioned to Private Wealth Management in 2006. Jennifer is the supporting manager of the BV Group, overseeing operations; which include order entry for the purchase and sale of securities, performance reporting, account opening and maintanance, and various client requests. Jennifer has won the Baird Blue Chip Service Award twice in her career.
Jennifer lives in Wind Lake with her daughters, Madison and Paige. She served 7 years on the board of the PTSO for her children's school; 4 of those as Co-President of the PTSO. In their free time they enjoy fishing, kayaking and hiking.
Briana is the most recent addition to the BV Group, joining the team in August of 2015. She comes to the team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her experience here at Baird.
Since joining the firm in 2004, Briana has had the privilege of experiencing Baird’s client-centric culture from several seats. While attending college Briana interned at Baird with our operations team in client services. This led her to an 8 year career as a client service specialist with Baird’s back office. From there she spent an additional 3 years on Baird’s institutional side in Fixed Income where she served as a Risk and Regulatory Specialist. She found her true passion was helping people on a person-to-person level leading her back to Private Wealth Management, working with the BV Group.
Briana graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Finance. Outside of spending time with her family and friends Briana loves to bike, run, golf and travel.
